Frequently asked questions
The questions institutions ask before they start. If yours is not here, ask us directly — a person answers.
What does Lecon actually do?
It holds your curriculum — programs, courses, learning outcomes — and moves changes to it through your own approval process, keeping a dated version and an audit trail of every decision. It then publishes the approved record: a public catalog, course outlines, syllabi, and the evidence an accreditor asks for.
How long does it take to set up?
An institution is usually working in it within a few days. Your existing courses and programs come in from a spreadsheet, your approval levels are named and assigned, and your people sign in with the accounts they already have. The parts that take longer — the curriculum map, assessment plans — are the work itself, not the setup.
Do we have to change how we approve curriculum?
No. You describe your governance to Lecon rather than the other way round: between one and ten levels for each process, named as your institution names them — department chair, curriculum committee, dean, education council, board — with a shorter route for minor revisions if you have one.
Does it work with our learning management system?
Yes. Lecon registers as an LTI 1.3 tool, so it opens inside each course in Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, Brightspace or D2L. Faculty place the approved outline in their course shell and assess program outcomes with the program’s rubrics; the results come back as evidence.
Can people sign in with their institutional account?
Yes. Single sign-on works with Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace and Keycloak over OpenID Connect, and with Shibboleth and Active Directory Federation Services over SAML.
Who can see our data?
Only your people, and only what their role allows. Each institution works at its own address and every query is scoped to it. We do not sell your data, use it to train models, or show it to another institution. The privacy policy sets out the detail.
What happens to our curriculum if we leave?
It is yours, and it leaves with you. You can export the whole record at any time, and on departure we provide an archive of everything — records, documents and the activity log — and then delete our copy.
Does Lecon hold student records?
Almost never, and never from your LMS: evidence graded there arrives as counts — how many students reached each level of a rubric, per criterion — with no names and no individual results, so the reports an accreditor wants do not require handing us a student record. The one exception is yours to make: when your staff record evidence by hand, for a panel review or a licensure exam, they may list who was judged. That is a choice per entry, and those names are visible only to staff who may already see student work.
What does it cost?
There are five plans. Free, Starter and Growth are priced on the pricing page and can be started without talking to anybody; Institution and Enterprise are quoted, because at that size the setup and the support are part of what you are buying. What separates them is how much curriculum you hold — programs, courses, people and storage — and whether you need the LMS, single sign-on and SIS connections, which come in from Starter up. Ask us if you would rather we priced your case.
Can we try it before committing?
Yes, two ways. Start free and you have your own address in a few minutes, with room for three programs, a hundred courses and thirty people — it does not expire, and whatever you build there stays yours if you move up a plan. Or ask for a demonstration and we will walk through it with your own curriculum in front of us.
Still deciding? The documentation shows the product screen by screen, and a demonstration takes half an hour.
